Hieroglyphic links:

Ancient Egyptian Hieroglyphs by James Allen

Contains a nice definition of hieroglyphics with several good examples and the meaning of each.

Cartouche Translators

I used the name Jaclynn to create samples to show you what each translator will create.

Some samples were reduced from the original size to better fit this page.

You will see that not all translators interpret the name the same.

Harcourt School Publishers: Make Your Own Cartouche

This page provides a little information on cartouches is as well.

King Tut's Treasures, Inc.

This is my favorite. This page contains some comparisons with the English alphabet and is easy to use.

The finished cartouche is larger than what is shown here. It prints out nicely and students really like it.

Walksoft Corporation: Letter to Hieroglyph Encoder

You can create names and sentences with this one.

(Note: they sometimes have a little difficulty with their encoder.)

Robert Sherman Productions: Online Hieroglyphics Translator

This page has a simple translator.

Mark Millmore: Egyptian Name Translator

This is another simple translater but I particularly like their images.

The graphics are larger than shown here.

PharaohHack Online Translator

This is another simple translator.
