Aker
(Akeru, Akerui)
Guardian of the rising sun.
"The Bender"
Aker was an ancient earth god in Egypt. It is believed he guarded the gates of the dawn from which the sun rose each morning.
The symbol of the sun sits between two lions. Above them is the symbol for sky.
The two lions were called Sef (meaning yesterday) and Duau (meaning today).
Lions were often placed at the doorways of temples and tombs as a means to ward off evil spirits. Some of these might carry the head of a man or a woman. (called a sphinx).
